Epicure red

L’Epicure Red from Château Valcombe is a wine that truly reflects our terroir. It is a sunny vintage, balanced, supple, and smooth. It comes from vines over 60 years old.

The annual production is 35,000 bottles.

Terroir

Located in the commune of Saint-Pierre-de-Vassols, on northwest-facing hillsides at 250 meters of altitude, facing the Dentelles de Montmirail and Mont Ventoux.

Clay-sandy topsoil.

Winemaking and ageing

Cold pre-fermentation maceration (night harvest) with settling.
Fermentation and ageing in barrels for 20% of the volume.
Ageing on full lees in concrete vats and barrels.s.

This is a wine that pairs well with all kinds of dishes. A bottle to open every day, for sheer enjoyment.

Tasting notes

Colour : Deep red with garnet highlights.
Nose : The first impression is jammy, with ripe fruits such as cherries and blackberries. Then follow notes of prune and quince paste, before opening onto spicier aromas of pepper and curry.
Palate : Warm and powerful from the outset, with very smooth, well-integrated tannins. Elegant and refined, carried by fresh acidity that enhances the aromas found on the nose—gingerbread, as well as hints of licorice.
