Grande Serène 2019

0.00 €

Description:

The Château Valcombe “La Grande Serène” wine is produced from old vines (more than sixty years old): the Serine grape variety already known for its “Côte Rôtie”, grown on the Valcombe land. This association of old vines and terroir produces a wine impressive by its strength, its elegance and its aromatic complexity.

Maturing the wine in “demi muids” gives it gentle oak overtones, which will develop progressively as the wine is aired and will remain well integrated.

This cuvée has a great aging potential.

Our annual limited production is of 3,000 bottles

Terroir:

Situated in the town of St Pierre de Vassols, at an altitude of 250 meters.

The Valcombe comb is matching exactly with the Ventoux with a northeast orientation. That allows the relief to benefit from the fresh wind (named “la Ventouille”) which goes down from the fresh mountain submit every morning at 5:00 AM.

The soil is vegetal, clay and sand based.

Grape variety:

Syrah (Serine).

Our vines are manually disbudded. Green harvest.

Our grapes are then handpicked; enabling us to select the best berries.

Wine making and maturing:

The process involves racking and returning. Maturing in “demi muids” (600 liters barrels).

Wine tasting:

Colour: Deep purple with bluish hues.

Nose: Expressive, roasted and brioche slightly toasted. Blackcurrant overtones.

Palate: Impression of volume and roundness on the attack. Silky tannins. Vanilla aromas with sweetness. Pastry and dark chocolate flavor. Powerful finish.
